One Million One Hundred Twenty Thousand Pound Solid Brick Building
Please scroll down

This building is constructed of solid brick. Its' dimensions are one hundred two feet long by forty two feet wide. This picture was taken shortly after it was jacked up twenty four inches above its' foundation.
In the pictures to follow, we will be showing some of the steps which were taken preliminary to raising and subsequently moving the building. The man in the picture is cutting the foundation with a special chainsaw for cutting concrete. Steel beams will be installed in these holes.
The large blue objects pictured on the left hand side of the photo are the steel support beams which will be inserted under the building. Two beams will be used to create the basis for supporting the building.
In this picture the second layer of steel is being installed. In total twenty-five beams will be inserted on this layer. Over two hundred thousand pounds of steel beams will be used to support the building.
This picture is taken from under the building. The building has been elevated twenty-four inches. The stacks of wooden blocks are supporting the layers of steel which are supporting the building. Individual rubber tired trailers called dollies are being inserted and will provide the means of supporting the building while it is moved.
The Building has moved about thirty feet off the foundation. In this picture you can easily see three of the sixteen eight wheel dollies which supported the building.
Traveling down the road. The building is being driven hydraulically by remote control dollies. In this picture one can grasp the immensity of this one hundred two feet long building.
On June 21 st. at 10:11 am EST.. the building is positioned over its' new foundation. The wheels were removed and the building again rested on cribbing awaiting its' new foundation walls. One hundred twenty-six years after it was built, it has a new address and new life. I am extremely proud of the Deitz House Moving Engineers, Inc. crew.
In the picture above from left to right are; Richard Deitz, Daniel Deitz, Kevin Deitz, Dan Pearo, Mark Young, Jeremy Holderman, Brian Escerino and Josh Kelm. Below is chief sidewalk superintendent Jim Davis. Many thanks are due to the crew of Dingey movers for their assistance on move day.
